Examination Access Arrangements
As a qualified specialist assessor for Examination Access Arrangements (EAA), I help ensure that students with specific learning differences, processing difficulties, or other needs can access the support they are entitled to in formal examinations so that they are on an even playing field to their peers.
I hold the required Post Graduate Level 7 qualifications to carry out assessments for exam access arrangements that meet the standards of the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) - the body that oversees examination regulations in the UK.
In addition, I have undertaken further specialist training to conduct online assessments, allowing me to assess students located anywhere in the world who are sitting UK curriculum-based examinations (GCSEs, A levels, etc.) or International Baccalaureate (IB) qualifications. Whether face-to-face or online, the process remains rigorous and fully compliant with JCQ guidelines.

What are Examination Access Arrangements?
Examination Access Arrangements (EAA) are adjustments made to exam conditions for candidates with special educational needs, disabilities, or temporary injuries. These adjustments might include extra time, a reader, a scribe, or other forms of support to ensure students are not disadvantaged by their particular difficulties.
The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) sets out the rules and evidence requirements for access arrangements in its annual Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments regulations. Any assessments carried out for the purposes of JCQ applications must be valid, evidence-based, and completed in partnership with the student’s school or college.

How does the process work?
If you feel your child or student may require additional support in examinations, I can carry out a full cognitive assessment to establish whether they meet the criteria for EAA.
For any JCQ application to be valid:
-
I will liaise directly with the school or college SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), who remains responsible for submitting the application to the awarding body.
-
The results of my assessment are recorded on JCQ Form 8, and I will complete Part 2 of this mandatory document.
-
The SENCo then completes the remainder of the paperwork and submits the application.
I also work with students studying for the IB Diploma Programme, where similar evidence is required for examination access arrangements.

Flexible and Accessible
I offer both face-to-face assessments (where location allows) and online assessments, giving you flexibility wherever you are in the world. Online assessments are conducted securely and effectively, and meet the standards required by JCQ for valid evidence.
Costs
Fees for assessment are provided on request and depend on the complexity of the case and whether the assessment is conducted online or in person. Please get in touch to discuss your needs and to receive a tailored quote.
